Parsing citations on Wikispecies
Wikispecies has citations in a range of formats, including templates for individual references, authors, and journals. References may or may not have additional identifiers, such as DOIs, ZooBank UUIDs, links to BHL and Internet Archive, etc.
For discussion of citation formats on Wikispecies (and why it doesn’t use the Wikipedia cite template), see https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikispecies:Village_Pump#Citation_templates. There was also a poll on citation templates in Wikispecies, see https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikispecies:Village_Pump/Archive_33#Close_poll. The poll had 11 participants(!).

Authors are often linked to a page in Wikispecies, and this page may in turn be linked to Wikidata, which can have other identifiers (e.g., ORCID, VIAF, ISNI, IPNI, etc.).
Goals are related to WikiCite project.
