I've been actively contributing to k/website as an org member: reviewing PRs, engaging with issues, and working on content and infrastructure improvements.

Hi @Caesarsage – while we're very excited to see that you'd like to become a reviewer of SIG Docs, there's been no discussion of this by you with SIG Docs leads, and that will need to take place before any kind of elevated permissions are granted. Many of our current approvers have become so because of their continued work and contributions, and given you've mentioned automating the reference docs generator, perhaps that can be a milestone we consider when revisiting the possibility of becoming an approver.
