# TCAT Wiki

> Documentation for transportation accessibility tools and data developed by the
> Taskar Center for Accessible Technology (TCAT) at the University of Washington.
> This wiki covers OS-CONNECT (Washington State's connected pedestrian network
> dataset), TDEI (the platform for storing and serving that data), OpenSidewalks
> (the data schema/standard), AccessMap (accessible pedestrian routing), Walksheds
> (pedestrian network analysis), Workspaces (dataset editing tools), and AVIV
> ScoutRoute (a crowdsourcing mobile app for pedestrian data collection).

TCAT develops open-source tools and data infrastructure to improve pedestrian
accessibility and mobility for people with disabilities. The core dataset is
OS-CONNECT — a high-resolution connected pedestrian network (sidewalks, crossings,
curb ramps, and related features) for Washington State, stored and served via the
TDEI platform using the OpenSidewalks schema.

Key acronyms:

- **TCAT** — Taskar Center for Accessible Technology (at the University of Washington)
- **OSW** — OpenSidewalks: the open pedestrian network data standard/schema
- **TDEI** — Transportation Data Exchange Initiative: the platform and API infrastructure for transportation accessibility data
- **OS-CONNECT** — Washington State's connected pedestrian network dataset (structured in the OSW schema)
- **ASR** — AVIV ScoutRoute: a mobile crowdsourcing app for pedestrian data collection

Architecture: data generation tools (AVIV ScoutRoute, Rapid editor, Prophet) feed
into TDEI Core (ingestion, validation, metadata, quality checks, access control,
publishing, APIs), and data flows from there to consumer apps (AccessMap, Walksheds,
Audiom, Conveyal).
