For a serious community based on the Finetooth software, you probably don't want this, but for demonstrating the capabilities of the software, it's really nice to not have to create an account—but even so, you'd still want to tie the votes to an anonymous session to persist state across page navigation and revisiting the site (until cookies are cleared). Making it a site-wide Django-settings configuration is probably good enough.
