I would like to be able to scroll through the transcript and similarly to how you can edit a message (e), choose to fork a new conversation from the selected message (f), without mutating the current thread.

Hi @etraut-openai, yes, I tried the /fork slash command.

It does fork from a specific message, but it also effectively truncates the remainder of the original conversation (everything after the fork point is no longer part of that thread).

What I’m looking for is the same “fork from here” behavior, but triggered from a point in the transcript (e.g., via Ctrl+T) without modifying or truncating the original conversation.

Example

Original conversation:

• Message 1
• Message 2
• Message 3
• Message 4

If I want to fork from Message 2:

Desired behavior:

Original conversation (unchanged):

• Message 1
• Message 2
• Message 3
• Message 4

Forked conversation (new thread):

• Message 1
• Message 2

In other words: create a new branch starting at a chosen transcript point, while keeping the source thread intact.
