Error message: Infinity

I have used different temperature sensors from different manufacturers but cannot seem to get this extension to work and communicate via microbit. I am continually getting the same "Infinity" error message. I have triple checked my wiring and code. I am using a microbit v2.21. Can anyone support and confirm that this extension is still working? I am an educator and I would like to use this extension with my students but I seem to be at a dead end.

I had the same problem but I found that it worked on the version 1 MicroBit, not the newest version. I wish there was an updated code extension for version 2.

Hi @kimwerezak ,

Where did you get the sensors from? Are you sure they are genuine DS18B20s? (There are many "fakes" sold as DS18B20s. --- many of them included in electronics kits or from Amazon are not genuine)

I'm working on review of some of the non-working sensors to try to understand if the problem can be consistently overcome.
(That being said, many of the "fake" sensors perform poorly --- often they are either imprecise or inaccurate (or both)).

I ordered mine from DigiKey, the product itself is made by Adafruit Industries. Adafruit brand has been reputable and reliable, more often that not, at least for me. Had I known it would only work on a MicroBit V1 I may have looked elsewhere. It has been accurate for temperature readings though so I'll use it for now.

@kimwerezak I also think it's unlikely that an Adafruit-distributed DS18B20 would be a fake.

I'll try to review this in the next 5-10 days (however, this is a hobby for me and other things may take priority).
