Variant switching on thumbnail select.

Hello,

I am attempting to switch product variants upon selecting product thumbnails on the product.liquid template. I have sought information from this guide: https://help.shopify.com/themes/customization/products/variants/select-variants-by-clicking-images. But, I cannot seem to make it work.

Am I correct in assuming there is:

1. An event listener for clicking product thumbnails I can use
2. A function for changing product variant in dropdown and altering description, title, and price

Can someone point me in the right direction?
