I followed these instructions:

Possible solution (Extracted from existing issue, might be incorrect; please verify carefully)

Solution 1:

Close as py-deviceid's warning is resolved in 2.71.0. SDK warning is tracked in #30440

Solution 2:

Short term, I rolled back my github runners to python 3.12.8, which is the version before the change from deprecation warning to syntax warning. It's not a long term fix as my cyber security department wants me on the latest stable version of Python for my OS, which is 3.12.9. Hoping to have a fix for this in short order from Microsoft so that I can upgrade back to later versions of python. I've also noticed that py-deviceid is a private repo for Microsoft despite being open source licensed for MIT. I was going to research whether the issue is actually fixed or contribute a fix myself, but I get a 404 error on the repository.

https://github.com/microsoft/py-deviceid <- this link returns a 404 indicating that it's no longer a public repository from Microsoft.

Solution 3:

Can you please produce a release of Azure CLI that rebuilds with the proposed fix version of py-deviceid that was released on 3/7. This was 3 days after the last release of Azure CLI. This is now blocking the deploy of ARM templates from GitHub Actions. We really need this fix because we can't deploy our ADF ARM templates anymore. It's hopefully as simple as producing an updated build with the latest dependencies, running tests, and making it available. Customers are dead in the water until this is available.
